Deadpool 2 is a 2018 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Deadpool, distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is the eleventh installment in the X-Men film series and a sequel to the 2016 film Deadpool. The film is directed by David Leitch from a script by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Ryan Reynolds, with Reynolds starring in the title role alongside Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jack Kesy. In the film, Deadpool forms the team X-Forceto protect a young mutant from Cable.
Deadpool 2 premiered at Leicester Square in London on May 10, 2018 and was released in the United States on 18 May 2018. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its humor, performances particularly Reynolds, josh Brolin and Beetz, and action sequences, with some calling it better than the first film, although the perceived ethnic stereotyping of supporting characters and a feeling of cynicism drew some criticism.
The second movie revolves around the theme of family. It still serves all the aforementioned goodies with all-around jabs thrown at Avengers: Infinity War, Warner Bros’ DC Universe, James Bond movies, and the Goonies. Also, his love for Logan/Wolverine. But when the movie asks you to take Deadpool’s relationship with Vanessa seriously, it doesn’t fit with viewer expectations. Viewers will come out of laughing after watching Deadpool 2, but won’t take home significant memories associated with the two hours spent in the theatre.
Deadpool 2 is entertaining but it is so relentless in its punches – literal and metaphorical – that it’s also exhausting. This film is stuffed with pop-culture jokes. It’s so meta and self-referential that I feel like I have to see it again, in English, to catch it all. Deadpool 2 is funny, furiously paced and densely packed. So much happens so quickly and each frame is so stuffed that I was just trying to keep up.Be warned that like the first, this film is also ultra-violent with impalings and decapitations. If you like your cinema understated and refined, then this is not for you. But for the rest of us, there’s enough to enjoy here.
Audaciously crafted and cleverly written, Deadpool 2 has the ability to end the Avengers’ reign at the box office. Credit goes to the writers for ensuring that the constant wisecracks, digs at other superheroes or pop culture references, don’t distract a viewer from the story’s emotional core and it’s protagonist’s moral ambiguity. The actor-writer surpasses his own 2016 outing with this smashing sequel that has its heart and humour in the right place.
On the whole, if you have watched the first film in the series and liked it, there are high chances that DEADPOOL 2 will blow you away. For those who like superhero films, this one is a superhero film with a difference. In the end, DEADPOOL 2 that features some crazy action, wicked humour, madcap one liners and well timed humour is definitely a must watch. At the Indian box office, with no big releases hitting screens for another couple of weeks, DEADPOOL 2 looks set to enjoy a stellar run.
